Meet the Volunteering and Community Engagement Team

The Volunteering and Community Engagement Team will offer you their enthusiasm, knowledge, skills and support to provide the best volunteering support service to meet your organisational needs.

The team consists of:

Lindsay Gilbert, Volunteering and Community Engagement Manager

Lindsay leads on University-wide volunteering schemes, The University of Manchester's Volunteer of the Year Awards and safeguarding. She also leads on academic-related volunteering within the School of Biological Sciences, the School of Health Sciences and the School of Medical Sciences.

Kirsty Hutchison, Volunteering and Community Engagement Consultant

Kirsty leads on the volunteering aspect of the University's 'students as good neigbours' agenda, developing initiatives in local neighbourhoods. She is also responsible for developing arts volunteering initiatives and works with Alliance Manchester Business School, the School of Arts, Languages and the School of Chemical Engineering to source and develop academic volunteering and community course projects for their students.

Emma Richardson, Volunteering and Community Engagement Consultant

Emma leads on the development of international volunteering initiatives, University College for Interdisciplinary Learning Challenges and academic-related volunteering in the School of Computer Science, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the School of Masterials. She is also responsible for developing education and health and volunteering opportunities.

Millie Loxton, Volunteering and Community Engagement Executive

Millie is responsible for developing environmental volunteer initiatives and volunteer opportunities with vulnerable adults. Millie leads on organising the Volunteering Social Justice Fair and also develops academic-related volunteering within the School of Law, the School of Environment, Education and Development, the School of Social Sciences and the School of Mechanical Aerospace and Civil Engineering.

Debbie Houghton, Volunteering and Community Engagement Executive

Debbie leads on Student Volunteering Week. She is also responsible for developing educational related volunteering, environmental volunteer initiatives and volunteer opportunities for international students. Debbie develops academic-related volunteering within the School of Chemistry, the School of Environmental Science, the School of Mathematics and the School of Physics.

Lena Summers, Volunteering and Community Engagement Intern

Lena supports the work on Volunteer Days and Volunteer Projects.

Catherine Barnes, Volunteering Administrator

Catherine leads on all queries regarding the Volunteer Hub, as well as general enquiries.
