Recruiting and managing your volunteers

Marketing

All approved volunteering opportunities should be advertised on Volunteer Hub. This can be supported with additional marketing, for example via your School or Division or across the University.

The most suitable marketing channels will depend on the type of volunteering opportunity and whether the project is open to specific groups of students, for example from individual Schools or with particular skills. It may be suitable to feature the project on the international volunteering web pages, via the Volunteering and Community Engagement Team’s social media channels, or at events such as the Volunteering and Social Justice Fair, which takes place each year in October.

The Volunteering and Community Engagement Team can work with you to identify suitable channels to use.

Recruitment

The most suitable recruitment processes will depend on the nature and duration of the project, the level of commitment, and the types of skills and experience required. Processes may include applications, interviews or selection events.

The Volunteering and Community Engagement Team can provide advice and support around recruitment and selection processes and identifying suitable candidates for overseas volunteering projects.
